Thanksgiving on Halloween

We celebrated Thanksgiving a bit early this year.  We visited Marie and Egbert in Vienna this weekend and decided it was the best time to have Thanksgiving dinner -- one of the advantages of living in a country that doesn't celebrate Thanksgiving is that we can basically celebrate whenever we want.  Our turkey is a bit smaller this year! :)

Friends, Fun, Food & Shopping

We took a quick trip down to Italy at the invitation of Martin's cousin, wife, and two daughters.  Our main goal:  Forte dei Marmi.  On the way there we stopped for lunch in Ferrara with plenty of impressive middle ages and renaissance architecture.

We then continued on to Forte dei Marmi where  the DeMarco family hosted us in grand style. An early morning walk on the beach -- it was a bit cloudy and the sea a bit rough.

The clouds are covering the Alpi Apuane, the mountains in the distance.  Usually the clouds moved on by the afternoon.

Our place of residence.

Wednesday morning market shopping.

Happy market-shopping smiles all around!

Thank you DeMarco's for your hospitality!
We took off after the market and headed home, stopping in Parma (yes, we did buy yummy Parma ham and Parmesan cheese).

wedding video links

Here are links to Martin's marvelous videos that he created for Marie and Egbert's wedding reception.  They were big hits.

The Party

A week after the wedding, we had a fun reception for Marie and Egbert in Klagenfurt (Villach).  We presented them with 1000 cranes and a wish of happiness and joy in their future lives together.

Martin's sister, Elisabeth.

First we had some punch on the patio, then we went inside for some fun and food. . .

The menu, the tables, the room.

The cake -- yummy!
We all had a good time.  CONGRATULATIONS,  Marie and Egbert!

Marie & Egbert's Big Weekend . . .

. . . started in Vienna with the mandatory civil marriage where they were surrounded by plenty of family and friends.  It happened to be the hottest day Vienna has seen in years -- 95 degrees F -- which for Austria is extremely hot!   There is no air conditioning far and wide anywhere, but we all tried hard to look fresh.

Roommates and friends.

Sisters.

Our amateur shots of the happy couple while the real pro is photographing -- thanks, Katya, I'm sure the real photos will be beautiful!

Next day at the Frankfurt Temple they were sealed for time and all eternity.

Unfortunately, it was pouring with rain, so pics were limited to the covered entry way.

Jackie, teach these two to do the kissy-face.

. . . and it's off to Scotland for the honeymoon.
